Course Information


What Will I Learn During The Course?


The SmileCare Dental Assistants Training Program will give you theoretical and practical training in dental terminology and most commonly performed procedures.

By the end of the course you will understand the importance of working and supporting dental practitioners and the entire team in a dental practice in a positive and efficient manner.

Armed with this knowledge you will become an asset to any dental practice, especially if your goal is to become a loyal and dedicated staff member.

As a graduate, you will be able to show competence in the following skills:
· patient entry and exit to and from surgery;
· suction and control of lighting during all dental procedures;
· setting up and stripping down a surgery for all procedures; and
· the management of instrument sterilisation using ultrasonic bath and autoclave,
bagging and systematised storage.
· the names and usage of different instruments used for dental procedures





As a graduate, you will have the ability to set up and pass instruments for the following procedures:
· composite resin restorations;
· amalgam restorations;
· GIC restorations;
· examinations;




· scaling and cleaning;
· bitewing, periapical x-rays, developing and mounting;
· crown and bridge, including temporisation;
· denture cases;
· extractions; and
· all stages of root canal therapy.





As a graduate you will also have knowledge of how to:
· mix alginate and linings;
· assist with reception duties; and
· maintain a high standard of infection control within  practice and surgery.
